A Place to Performassembly_hall

KCD has the faculty and the programs to help our students become the kind of creative thinkers who will be the leaders in the twenty-first century. In order to continue to build upon this excellence, we now face a distinct need to construct an assembly hall/theater to serve as a central gathering point for the school.

Currently, none of the divisions—lower, middle, or upper—can properly convene in a single space, which limits our ability to realize our commitment to community. The new assembly hall/theater will provide for regular division meetings, allowing these vital community-building relationships to take place.

Assemblies and parent programs are currently held in the cafeteria or gym—a setting that does not match the quality of the nationally known speakers who have visited our campus. A new facility will provide a professional venue for guest speakers and assemblies, as well as speech and debate competitions.

Theatrical productions are currently performed in the cafeteria, which does not meet the standards of excellence to which we aspire and limits our students’ abilities to excel. Poor acoustics make the space inadequate for choral and instrumental music performances. New construction will provide our award-winning fine arts department with an exceptional space for productions, concerts, musical performances and speech programs.
