At KCD, our emphasis on a rigorous curriculum and our faculty’s innovative approaches to educating students have created a dynamic academic environment with outstanding results. Please consider the following remarkable statistics:

Since the introduction of the new SAT, the average test score for KCD’s graduating seniors has exceeded the national average by over 300 points;

The Class of 2007 reported the highest math, reading and composite ACT scores in the city of Louisville;

Over the past four years, an average of 79% of graduating seniors who designated a college or university of first choice were offered admission to that college or university, while an average of 11% were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Finalists;

78% of recent graduating seniors received some form of merit-based scholarships;

KCD students are regularly offered admission to the most selective colleges and universities in the nation, including Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Pennsylvania, Duke, Virginia, Georgetown, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Davidson, and Washington & Lee, among others.

In the fields of mathematics and sciences, KCD middle school students have placed in the top ten finalists of the State Championships three of the past four years.

The KCD Primary Chess Team (grades K-3) has won the State Championship in four of the last seven years, while the Elementary Chess Team (grades K-5) has won the State Championship in five of the last nine years.
