Dress Code
Premised on the belief that dress reflects attitude, the KCD dress code balances the student’s freedom of choice with the community’s standards of appropriateness. Student dress must be neat, clean, inoffensive, modest, properly fitting, and not distracting. Undergarments should not be visible and attire must be consistent with the requirements set out below.
In all cases, the division director has the final responsibility to determine what is suitable or unsuitable. The dress code will be discussed with all students at the beginning of the school year. Students will be expected to obey dress code rules as they obey all school rules, and repeated violations will call into question the appropriateness of a student remaining in this community.
The following guidelines are intended to help students and parents adhere to the school’s expectations for student dress. The school retains final discretion as to whether a student is properly attired. Where dress is in compliance with the letter of these guidelines, but may violate the intent or spirit of the dress code, students should err on the side of caution and select attire that is clearly consistent with the dress code.
The Lower School Dress Code is posted in the Lower School Student-Parent Handbook.
