Ways to Give

Pledges

Pledge commitments can be made to KCD for any type of fund-raising effort. All commitments must be paid on or before June 30 each year.

Cash

Cash is the most common form of a contribution to the school. A gift of cash receives the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. You can deduct up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for gifts of cash and may carry forward any unused deduction for up to five additional years.

Stock Transfer

Appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year is frequently the most tax-wise way to give securities. You will be eligible to make a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value on the date of the gift for up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income and will recognize the appreciation as capital gain.

Donors should instruct their brokers to include the donor name on the stock gift or contact LouAnn Atlas, Fifth Third Bank, at 502-562-5254 to advise of the stock gift.

Matching gifts

Many companies offer programs that match gifts made to KCD. Please ask your company if they participate in a matching gift program. If making your gift online, please send the matching gift form along separately by mail. Include your name and address and how you would like KCD to credit your gift.

Restricted Giving

If you have a passion for a particular program or see a need that is immediate, restricted giving is also an option. By earmarking your gift you can be assured that your money will be allocated according to your interests or values. Please contact Jamey Elliott at jamey.elliott@kcd.org or (502) 814-4339.

Planned Giving

Benjamin G. Robertson Sr. was one of the founders of Louisville Country Day School. Mr. Robertson devoted his time, talent ,and treasure to LCD for 21 years, and even had the foresight to contribute to the advancement of the school after his death. In his will, Mr. Robertson decreed that our school be the ultimate beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust. This trust, established in 1969, has already distributed over $1 million to KCD’s permanent endowment, and we expect to receive millions more in the years to come. This is a marvelous and transformational gift. In recognition of his generous and innovative gift, it is with great pleasure that we announce to you that KCD has established the Benjamin G. Robertson Sr. Society: The Planned Giving Program for KCD. Planned gifts allow you to benefit KCD while allowing you to save taxes, increase your income, and pass on more to your heirs. Did you know that . . .

  • You can receive lifetime income in exchange for a gift?
  • Giving appreciated property such as stocks or real estate costs less than giving the equivalent in cash?
  • Some assets can provide you a greater benefit if you give them away?
  • Some gifts cost nothing now but leave a legacy later?
  • Some gifts allow you to pass on more to your heirs while saving on taxes?
