Fine Arts Guild membership form

2009-10 Membership Drive

Dear KCD Parents, Alumni, and Friends, As the new school year begins, the KCD Arts building project is well under way! Ground has been cleared, the basement has been dug, pipes have been laid, and the three lane road is taking shape. I know that you are all as eager as I am for its completion, which is scheduled for the fall of 2010!

In the next few months, you will have many wonderful opportunities to support the building project, KCD Arts, and the school in general. I encourage you to become involved in any and every way that you can; it is after all your school. Consider giving, as your means allow, to the KCD Fund as well as the Expanding Horizons capital campaign. Be sure to get on board as a Sports Booster as well, and remember that a gift of time as well as treasure is always valued and appreciated.

One simple way that you can immediately contribute to the continued excellence of KCD is by joining the Kentucky Country Day Fine Arts Guild. Our membership drive is now in full swing. For those of you who are new to our school, The Arts Guild is an organization that complements and supports the talents and energy of our visual, music and drama arts faculty, allowing us to strengthen our curricular and extra-curricular programs. It differs from the KCD Fund in that gifts to the KCD Fund are for unrestricted support of the school, which is also extremely important, whereas contributions to the Fine Arts Guild are obviously restricted to our arts programs. The Guild is comprised of parents, grandparents, alumni, friends and local corporations, who recognize that our top-notch arts programs greatly benefit from the generous support of patrons of the arts. Many of them advertise in our Arts Bill as well.

In the past three years, the impact of the Arts Guild has been seen on many levels. The purchase of a new state-of-the-art Piano Lab in 2006 –‘07 and the institution of the Guest Artist Series in 2007-‘08 demonstrate the tremendous success of the partnership between KCD Fine and Performing Arts. Last year the Arts Guild helped launch the new theater project; and this year it will investigate the purchase of permanent art for the lobby of our new theater. So, if you have joined the KCD Arts Guild in the past, then I thank you for all you have done to support our arts programs and I encourage you to renew your membership.

I know that you recognize that your role in our ongoing success is important. If you are considering the Fine Arts Guild for the first time, know that your participation will help us achieve our goal of continued excellence in the arts. Please take some time to review the membership levels on the back of this sheet, and join us as we make KCD the premier arts school in Louisville! Please feel free to contact me or our Arts Guild Board Chair, parent, Marcia James, if you have questions or suggestions. On behalf of all of the members of the Kentucky Country Day Arts faculty, I want you to know that your support on our behalf is deeply appreciated. I look forward to working with all of you in the upcoming school year.

Sincerely yours,

Kate Scinta
Fine Arts Department Chair
