Absence and Attendance

Parents and the school share a responsibility to know where every student is every day. Prompt communication from home enables the school to track attendance properly.

If a student must miss school for an entire day or any portion of it, the parent must call the division secretary by 8:30 that morning. Only a parent or a designated adult may call to request an excused absence. (Please ask for the division administrative assistant.) If you suspect your child is sick, please keep him or her at home. The school may require a doctor’s report for any student who is absent for more than three days. A student should be free of fever for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Not only will they feel better more quickly, but you will also prevent their illness from spreading to classmates and teachers

For lower school students, you may request to pick up any make-up homework at the end of the school day. For middle and upper school, we ask that students who are absent for one day contact a classmate or check online for assignments. If absences are longer in length, you may contact the division administrative assistant for assistance in obtaining assignments.
