- eLibrary Science, and SIRS Researcher.
- a professional section including materials of interest to parents and teachers.
Programs
The library is open to middle school and upper school students from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm for individual study or research. In addition, middle and upper school classes schedule the library for research and other projects.
JK through fourth grades come for weekly instruction, story time, and checkout. Story times and instruction are designed to follow and enrich the classroom curriculum
The lower school library program supports children’s independent reading and research as well as their classroom activities. The elementary school library curriculum introduces children to the care of materials, parts of books, reference sources, search skills, a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction, the Caldecott and Newbery Awards, and the concepts of authorship and publication.
The Birthday Book Club provides an opportunity for parents and other loved ones to recognize significant occasions in the lives of their lower school student through the purchase of books for the library collection. A commemorative bookplate records the name of the child.
KCD's librarians strive to keep the collection up-to-date. We subscribe to a variety of book review sources, including American Libraries, Booklist, Library Sparks, Knowledge Quest, The New York Times Book Review and School Media Library. In addition, we subscribe to over twenty titles monthly through Junior Library Guild.
