Advanced Placement courses

Twenty-one Advanced Placement courses are taught in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, European History, French, Latin, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Statistics, U.S. Government and Politics, and U.S. History. in 2009-2010, 133 students took 263 AP exams. 78% scored 3 or higher.

National Merit Semifinalists

Over the last five years (2005–2009), an average of 10 percent of KCD's graduating class has qualified as National Merit Semifinalists, meaning that their SAT scores place them in the top 1.5 percent of Kentucky students.

College Matriculation

KCD seniors are routinely accepted at some of the nation’s top colleges. Perhaps more importantly, each year nearly 80% of graduating seniors report being accepted at their first-choice school.

Fine Arts

KCD offers a fine arts program for all students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade, including classes in visual art, drama and play production, and choral and instrumental music.

Athletics

KCD has seventeen middle school athletic teams, eleven junior varsity teams, and twenty-two varsity teams. Over seventy-five percent of students in grades five through twelve participate in at least one sport.

KCD’s financial aid budget for the 2010–2011 school year is over $1.5 million. Last year, approximately 17 percent of students received some form of aid, with an average distribution of $10,455.

Accreditation

KCD is accredited through the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. KCD is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Louisville Independent School Coalition.
