Seventh grade boys’ basketball ranks as one of Kentucky’s top teams
Congratulations to the seventh grade boys’ basketball team on their performance at the KBA Boys’ Seventh Grade State Tournament last weekend in Lexington. The Bearcats made it to the Sweet Sixteen but came up short in their attempt to advance to the Great Eight. The boys finished up with an overall ranking of thirteenth in the state out of 52 teams. Congratulations to the seventh grade basketball Bearcats on a excellent performance! The team will wrap up their season this weekend as they compete in the Louisville Collegiate School Tournament.
Seventh grade boys’ basketball wins first tournament of season
The seventh grade boys’ basketball team played in the Mid-America Holiday Classic over December 10 and 11. Saturday’s games were very challenging for the Bearcats, who were playing without a full roster, and the team took two early losses in pool play.
With a fully loaded roster and a renewed focus on Sunday, the Bearcats went undefeated to win the championship by four points. Congratulations to Coach Mathis and the Bearcats!
Middle school basketball starting dates
Middle School basketball practices will be in the back gym
Boys
5th grade: Tryouts/ Practice will begin Monday October 10th, 5:00-6:30 in the back gym.
Tuesday October 11: 5-6:30
Wednesday October 12: 5-6:30
Games begin on Saturday October 15.
6th grade: Practice days and times next week are same as 5th grade (Monday - Wednesday 5-6:30, Oct 10-12)
7th grade: Tryouts are October 17th and 18th from 5-6:30
8th grade: Tryouts are October 17th and 18th from 5-6:30
Girls
5th and 6th grade: Practice will be Monday -Wednesday (October 10-12) from 3:30-5:00.
7th and 8th grade: Practice will begin on October 17th from 3:30 - 5:00.
NOTE for 5/6 boys and girls:
Starting on October 17, girls teams will practice at Springdale Church on Mondays and the 6th Boys and the 5/6 Developmental Team will practice at Springdale Church on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00pm. All three teams will practice in the back gym on Fridays, alternating between the 3:30 and 5:00 practice times. Games will be held on Saturdays. All girls games will be held at KCD. The boys will play one game at KCD, one at CAI, and the rest at Whitefield Academy.
The 5th Grade Boys team will practice Tuesday and Fridays from 6:30-8 in the back gym at KCD.
