Kentucky Country Day School's Diversity Statement
Kentucky Country Day School affirms diversity as
a core community value. We will champion social justice and challenge
injustice wherever
we find it—in the classroom, on campus and in the world. We seek
to embrace difference by living our motto—Citizen, Scholar, Steward—within
the context of an educational community in which we are privileged
to learn and teach.
As Citizens . . .
We will be proactive in thought, word, and deed to nurture a community
in which differences are embraced and appreciated. We will promote
acceptance, inclusion, and affirmation as fundamental principles
of social interaction. We will learn from and teach each other to
be decent human beings, prepared for the larger world in which we
live, work, and serve.
As Scholars . . .
We will invite the free flow of ideas, perspectives, and experiences
to gain understanding. With that understanding, we will encourage
positive engagement across all lines of difference. As scholars,
we will adopt curricula that incorporate an ongoing examination of
difference and create programs to explore the various social meanings
of difference and to affirm its essential place in our educational
community.
As Stewards . . .
We seek to cultivate respect for and understanding of difference both
at KCD and in the greater community. To that end, we wish to promote
and connect learning through service in solidarity with local and
global communities on a long-term basis.
Kentucky Country Day School's Non-Discrimination
Policy
KCD firmly supports the principle that the admission
of students, the employment of staff, the operations of the program,
and the governance of the school be open to all who are qualified,
regardless of race, gender, creed, color, or national origin.
